How to Avoid Pool Table Felt Replacement

Your pool table is going to be the center of attraction at your home. When you spend a lot of money on your billiards table it is best you also spend money to protect it – not just from thieves but also any kind of possible blemish and damage. The pool table felt is quite delicate and requires replacement when damaged. And you would not want to replace it anytime soon, even if you have loads of money. Basic human tendency is to save and also live by the idiot – prevention better than cure. We will tell you a few ways how to keep your pool table felt undamaged for a long time.

The felt is the most vulnerable to damage. And once the damage is done it can drastically lower your performance in the game, while also disrupting the flow of the game. Of course it is prudent to protect it!

First thing, it helps to have a cover. A proper soft satin cover which will protect as well as caresses the pool table felt. Also use a proper brush to keep dusting the felt regularly – including between games. An even better option is to use a low power vacuum cleaner! Don’t use too much force though, as it can cause damage to the surface.

Another important thing you HAVE to do, is keep away any liquid from the billiards table. You could have your parties at home but try keeping that glass of wine away from the table as any spill will destroy the felt. And in case you do spill it is a good idea to clean it up right away. Use a moist piece of cloth or sponge to clean up before drying it up.

One more thing you need to keep in mind – keep your cat, who loves to shed, away from your table. You don’t want to go mad trying to pull out its hair from the felt!

In the event that you decide to move, be careful that the packers give enough attention to the pool table. A good idea to prevent damage, is to remove the pool table felt and reinstall it once you are at the new location. Of course you also have to be sure that your cloth is not too old. It won’t be possible to stretch the cloth all over again if that is the case. Most cases see the pool table felt being damaged and will have to be replaced.

Make sure that you are playing on the best surface that you can provide to yourself every time you start a new game.
